About the role
Accounts Payable Supervisor
The Position:
• The AP team is split, due to differing processes, between Stock and Overhead and the Supervisor will manage the relationships and workload of a team of six across both areas.
• Work with colleagues across departments to ensure timely processing, approval and payment of supplier invoices.
• Ensure a high level of accuracy is maintained in all aspects of accounts payable transactions.
• The role is key to ensuring that systems and processes are fit for the future. The Supervisor should identify inefficient work streams and refine or implement new processes where required.
• Liaise with internal and external audit to ensure accounts payable compliance with audit requirements.
The Candidate:
• The candidate must have extensive accounts payable experience, an understanding of double entry and ledger accounting as well as experience of managing a team.
• The implementation of Brexit, opening an Irish distribution centre and the success of our wholesale and consignment business has resulted in the stock process becoming more complex. Ideally, the successful candidate will have strong inventory and international supply chain experience.
• You will not only process information but be aware of how other systems integrate with the Accounts Payable function.
• You should have strong systems skills with a focus on process improvement and re-engineering. Experience in implementing new systems would be an advantage.
• An interest in fashion and a commitment to the schuh values will be preferable in a candidate.
The role will report to the Senior Management Accountant, who is responsible for the day to day running of the Transactions Team.
You will be based from our Livingston Head Office a minimum of 2 days per week.
